Non-Public Schools Home

The nonpublic program provides a wide range of services to private and parochial schools through funding under Chapters 192-193 and IDIEA. These services cover schools in a vast area of counties including, but not limited to, Salem, Cumberland and Atlantic. These programs include Compensatory Education, Speech, Teacher Assistants, Child Study Team and Nursing.

The Compensatory Education program provides small group instruction in reading, writing and math to students in grades K through 12. The goal of the teacher is to reinforce basic skills as well as to emphasis key concepts the students may be covering in their classrooms. The SCSSSD teacher works very closely with the regular nonpublic classroom teacher at each school to enhance the educational experience of each student in our program. Instruction takes place on site at the nonpublic location within the school setting where a Compensatory Ed. classroom is identified for that use.

Teacher's Aides are provided under IDIEA funding and are utilized to assist those students who have been evaluated and classified through our Child Study Team. They work directly within the classroom setting of the various students to assist in any way the nonpublic classroom teacher deems necessary. They can assist in daily assignments or aid the student by administering one on one testing. The teacher's aides can see a various number of students within one day moving from class to class to benefit the student as best they can.
